70% of solitary native bees are ground nesters, including the bumblebee, but crawling through inches of mulch (not to mention plastic) when you're only 1/2" long is pretty much impossible. So remove that mulch from some of your flower beds so these terrific pollinators can burrow and reproduce. You'll have free pollination all summer long.
There were NO honey bees on the North American continent until the 1620’s when the colonists brought them to Jamestown, Virginia so they could harvest their honey.
